Port Elizabeth - "I never broke up a happy marriage," said Amor Vittone, shortly after arriving at Port Elizabeth airport, barefoot and in a lively mood ahead of her show.
Vittone made headlines recently, following the divorce of Springbok scrumhalf and Blue Bulls captain Joost van der Westhuizen
Rumours started flying that she might be the reason Van der
Westhuizen decided to divorce his wife. On Monday she stressed that she definitely had no hand in the break-up of their marriage.
"Joost phoned me three months ago for a coffee date. I thought it strange as he was still married. At the time, however, he
had been involved in divorce proceedings for nine months. He went through a very difficult patch," Vittone said.
It appears that she and Van der Westhuizen have been friends for some time. Following media reports about him and Vittone, he wanted her telephone number to apologise for involving her "in the issue".
Vittone on Monday appeared overjoyed at all the publicity coming her way recently. "I'm a celebrity," a bubbling Vittone said, while pointing to a cover photograph of herself on You magazine.
"Tomorrow, I'll probably have a boyfriend in Die Burger," she joked, while fighting the strong Port Elizabeth breeze. Men at the airport fell over their feet for a glimpse of the television personality.
In true Italian style, she blew kisses in all directions.
