Durban - The KwaZulu-Natal leadership of the African National Congress said in a statement on Wednesday that it had made an offer concerning the government of the province to the Inkatha Freedom Party.
The ANC said the details of the offer could not as yet be made public, and the IFP had requested time to consider it.
The ANC said it insisted that the swearing-in of members of parliament, premier, speaker, deputy speaker and the formation of the KwaZulu-Natal government should be concluded by Friday, 23 April.
The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal congratulated its provincial chair, S'bu Ndebele, on his appointment by President Thabo Mbeki as candidate-premier for KwaZulu-Natal.
"We are confident that comrade Ndebele will lead the new provincial government with distinction and proficiency," the party said.
