Johannesburg - "We're pals... I want to be in a relationship with someone I love. Whether it's Joost or not - as long as it works," says television celebrity and singer Amor Vittone about Joost van der Westhuizen, who earlier this
month got divorced from his wife, Marlené.
Joost and Marlené broke up while he was still trying to quell rumours about the divorce, including whispers that Vittone and he were romantically linked.
Vittone said on Monday: "It's hectic when people start prying into your private life. It's amazing what people want to know. I think it's important to spend time on your own after a divorce."
She was aware of rumours that Joost and his wife had marital problems, but she believed that sort of thing had to be settled
between them.
Has to take care about dating
"I'm not someone to interfere in people's private lives. I haven't really spoken to Joost about it," Vittone added.
She said she didn't have a clue what it was like to go through a divorce, but ending relationships had been traumatic enough for her in the past.
"It must be hard, but time will tell whether it was the right decision. I can only wish them both luck," Vittone said.
She emphasised that her life was just too busy to start a relationship and that she had to take care and avoid dating any Tom, Dick and Harry hunting for publicity.
"I'm definitely not looking for cheap publicity. I agreed to do something for You/Huisgenoot's cover, in which I make only one statement about Joost," she said.
