    FF minus. Good news.

      Thandiwe83 - 2011-05-19 19:42

FF+ would not welcome me like the DA. Surely parties that are not for ALL South Africans are a thing of the past now?

      Vlooi - 2011-05-19 20:15

@Thandiwe83 - Not really, I guess you feel about as welcome in the FF+ as I do at an ANC rally singing "dubula ibhunu".

      Thandiwe83 - 2011-05-19 20:28

I am against the kill the boer chants, but there are many white ANC members - how many black FF+ people are there?

      Vlooi - 2011-05-19 20:58

I've got no idea, but they are welcome to join. Maybe the same reason a lot of people will not vote for the DA, its' seen as a white party.

      Paradoks - 2011-05-19 22:15

@Thandiwe, no-one in their right mind expect you to feel comfortable with the FV+. As a white person I can confirm that they are mostly racist. Find yourself a party that TRIES to be non-racist and WILL deliver - the DA! They are not perfect, but they are a lot less corrupt and much more truthful than the ANC. Contrary to what the ANC preaches, white people want to live in a non-racist society and the DA is the only party that can deliver this dream.

      Blouponie - 2011-05-20 02:11

The VF+ is a sad bunch of losers who will never be able to accept the new South Africa. The DA, on the other hand, actually believes in a multiracial South Africa.

When did BLOEM become a "Metro"?

      otiose - 2011-05-19 19:29

right before the election the ANC included a bunch of smaller pro-ANC municipalities to sway the vote. Successfully it seems.

  • MBruno - 2011-05-19 19:18

"Metros" are actually a dirty trick used by the ANC to create enlarged municipalities around the country's major cities to ensure that the ruling party gets a permanent majority in the polls. I bet that, if Pretoria, Port Elizabeth or Bloemfontein had separate municipal governments of their own, they would actually ruled by the opposition based on yesterday's returns.

  • Thandiwe83 - 2011-05-19 19:41

Shame the DA won't have another metro to show off their governing skills.

      JM - 2011-05-19 20:08

One should be enough... remember that the DA took many wards, they can just show there what they have to offer. People are going over slowly but surely.

      Axiom - 2011-05-19 21:30

You are so right, it is a true shame, especially since they clearly know what they are doing in CT. Wish they took my Metro.

i see the maths still dont adds up... "The ANC garnered 52.72% or 117 551 votes" "DA lagging further behind with 41.30% or 92 078 votes" totaling of 209 629 A total voter turnout of 113 031 was recorded so far, with 372 692 voters registered in the metro did everyone get 2 votes?

      Gardener - 2011-05-19 20:08

I think a lot of things don't add up!!

As a young white South African male, I feel let down by my country of birth. I believe this is not a place where white people are welcome... Now that I have a son I feel he two has no future here. Thats why I am leaving the country and taking my hard work and skills else where... You might not think you need us here but one day you will wake up when its to late! Keep your blind folds on and vote as you do for the rest of your life... I was to young to even know what Apartheid was and now I feel reverse apartheid as the white male is last on the list. Thats why a go to a place where colour is not the issue and governance is!!!

      Vortex - 2011-05-19 22:13

I guess I'm lucky to be from Cape Town. I feel the same dismay though. The ANC is creating a divided nation. To be a racist does not depend on the colour of your skin.
