Malema refuses debate with 'tea girl'

2011-05-20 16:28

Pretoria - ANCYL leader Julius Malema on Friday refused to take part in a televised debate with DA MP and spokesperson Lindiwe Mazibuko as she was a "tea girl".

"I was never asked to debate Lindiwe... She's a nobody, she's a tea girl of the madam. I'm not debating with the service of the madam," he said, referring to DA leader Helen Zille.

After seeing Mazibuko at's set at the IEC's results centre in Pretoria, Malema told ANCYL spokesperson Floyd Shivambu that "he is not going to do this".

"I'm not going to lose our profile," he said.

Mazibuko, who said she had been on set for over an hour, was asked to leave and give way to Malema, because he felt the debate would "promote her profile".

"He's not even an elected public representative... I was there for an hour," she told reporters.

"It's ridiculous." She said it was "shocking" that the media and South Africans tolerated politicians who didn't have the courage to defend what they stood for.

"What is he offering us besides sensational headlines?"

He accused Mazibuko of not knowing politics, saying she joined the DA because she was "bored with her job".

"I was born into politics... from 9-years-old, she wasn't," Malema charged.

Asked if it was because he didn't want to debate with a woman, Malema said: "Me and beautiful woman, we don't collide."

‘Running scared’

DA leader Helen Zille accused Malema of running scared.

She said Malema knew he was going to lose against Lindiwe, "let alone to a woman" and that is why he refused to debate with her.

"Well he's terrified isn't he? Jacob Zuma has always refused to debate with me, he will never ever debate with me... and we've challenged him, radio stations have asked him, TV channels have requested him to be in a debate with me, but he refuses.

"I don't know any democracy where the leader of the governing party, refuses to debate the leader of the official opposition. It doesn't happen, and if it did happen the voters would vote out that leader very quickly, because he's not willing to put his policies to the test.

"Now you have Julius Malema taking that exact example, a debate was set up by, he arrives there, sees Lindiwe and he refuses to debate with her... Just like President Jacob Zuma refuses to debate with me. His arguments will be annihilated," she said.

She added he went against everything the ANC stood for, and said the party's secretary general Gwede Mantashe was "facing a serious dilemma".

"Julius Malema has painted the ANC as a racial, nationalised, sexist party," Zille said.

She said Malema was holding the ANC to ransom.

Zille said she planned to talk to Zuma when he arrived at the centre, but had "nothing to say" to Malema.

  • Loner - 2011-05-20 16:34

Of course... JM and JZ don't have enough time in a debate to think of a sensible lie.

      LBS - 2011-05-20 16:45

      Lekker!!! Malemma met his match!

      grumpy - 2011-05-20 16:48

A perfect example of the ANC's idea of "equality"

      Loner - 2011-05-20 16:52

Have to disagree with you LBS... unless there was something lower than a cockroaches %&^*

      POLLENYS - 2011-05-20 16:57

Malema will only win the debate if it's presented by the biased SABC and it's bias interviewers. They won't give the lady a chance to respond, because they know she will make Malema look like the fool he is.

      dangerfieldK - 2011-05-20 17:00

They know they'll get OWNED, that's why. We should actually feel bad for them, They were both dropped on their heads when they were babies, that's why they're not good at holding a rational argument.

      andrew.pottow - 2011-05-20 17:02

"I'm not going to lose our profile," he said. So he acknowledges that he would be made to look like a fool?

      Charlie - 2011-05-20 17:09

Malema, what waste of skin and oxygen! He hasn't got the balls to debate because he knows he can't string a sensible sentence together! Caveman dialogue, they don't come any thicker!!!!!

      chappy - 2011-05-20 17:09

But of course Juju is right, he can't debate against a tea-girl. A tea-girl would be waaaaay too smart for him!

      Sheda Hab - 2011-05-20 17:59

And you Mr Malema are just a BOY. It is amazing how easily that man transports me back to the days when Zille was possibly a Madam, Lindiwe Mazibuko a Tea Girl and him a BOY. My father taught me never to use the term boy for a person over 18, I never did - but you Mr Malema make it SOOOOOOO EASY to call you BOY......................

      clark - 2011-05-20 18:49

      - This pecky boy needs to be cut down to size. It's high time we all started with racial slurs with this individual, instead of going out of our way to be politically correct - he does not deserve any respect. He continues to enjoy total impunity for his racial hate speech and tirade against whites. The boy is a brainless retard and in terms of my rights to freedom of speech, I pronounce - piss off pecky boy !!!!!!

      Simpiwe Cele - 2011-05-20 21:48

JZ and JM want a mass of people so they can masturbate :)

      Spyker May - 2011-05-20 23:48

Observe carefully – Jacob Zuma never enters into an ad hoc debate – it always has to be pre-rehearsed. Apparently his interview with CNN was the laughing stock of the CNN newsroom – everything had to be pre-practised. A number of political analysts- and journalists have (both formally and informally) acknowledged that JZ is deeply mentally challenged. In fact the British journalist that bore the brunt of the “bloody agent” incident, was quoted by a British newspaper as saying, he could only describe a number of the ANC’s leading politicians as being ‘functionally mentally retarded’. Lindiwe Mazibuko’s goldfish has probably got a higher IQ than Julius Malema. Some say JM is not merely a ‘rodeo clown’ and a stooge.., but indeed he IS. He is all of that and sadly worse. He represents the most dangerous of all the despots. The ‘ship of fools’ will not be captained by the prudent - no, they will be locked up below deck; it will be under command of the biggest fool of them all. JM is both a psychopath and a retard – he is wholly unable to understand the consequences of his actions. In the same vane as despots like Mussolini – in fact, take a look at (old) footage of Mussolini, you may be startled at the similarities. I will reiterate: I do not believe black SAcans are following this Bushwhacked Freak en masse. Viz – I simply do not believe the election results presented by the IEC. I have absolutely no evidence to back it, but I will stand by my opinion, that I do not believe a lot more than 50% of the voters voted for the ANC. A significant number of black people are deeply embarrassed by this raccoon and would be quietly relieved the day he ‘disappears’...

      lotus.lindi - 2011-05-21 08:45

There's nothing sensible about this man's lies. And most frightening of all, I think he believes them. Shame on the media here for letting him behave like the tin-headed tin pot dictator that he aspires to be. Left unchecked, Malema could end up making Mugabe look like a Sunday-School teacher. He appears to be modelling himself on Pol Pot! What are senior ANC leaders thinking? Do they honestly think they will escape his purges once he has any real power? He doesn't understand the concepts of opposition, responsibility, consequences, morality, dialogue, authority, ownership or even human rights!

      ph - 2011-05-21 10:53

you have to be able to think first, therein lies the problem - zuma and malema share a braincell!

      Desire - 2011-05-21 11:24

JM and JZ don't have the brain cells to THINK. Period.

      Rustum X - 2011-05-21 13:33

From now on, all call him "boy". No capitals. No name. The press are not doing themselves a favour by fawning on boy.

      Ouman - 2011-05-20 17:57

Malema, let's talk about educational qualifications rather than to refer to someone as a tea girl. I bet you will be the ass.

      nOs.gUrU - 2011-05-20 18:37

@ Loner. Let us hope when you say "grand ape" you are not referring to Malema's elders/parents. That would be just so unjust & unfair to his other family members. Shiss, why do you include his mother into this? Did she ever approve of his actions? Us sound, black Africans actually have something called Ubuntu! Know anything about that?? I think what you posted is just so disrespectful and somehow gives me chills! If you can say suck things, it makes me wonder if we would be wrong to classify you with ppl like malema **disghust**. If you molested your neighbour's kid, would it be fair for the society to refer to members of your family as racists? Let us at least think before we write, so we do not end up looking like him.

  • saabnut - 2011-05-20 16:37

      gizzy - 2011-05-20 17:04

It's like when he went to UCT for a "debate". Many attended to engage him. He arrives with 3 busloads of people, takes up a hall, shouts his diatribe for 10 minutes and then dissapears. What an absolute idiot! He is only capable of shouting his diatribe when he has his busloads of rabble rousers!

      prsephton - 2011-05-22 21:37

JM wasn't born. He sprouted from the original primordial soup at the age of 9, was naturally a candidate for ANC politics, and ideal for the position of youth leader. Slime ball.

  • Craig44 - 2011-05-20 16:37

You need to answer intelligently for a debate to occur... All that ever exits that scumbags mouth is a fetid stench of racist based rhetoric. Born at 9, your mother must know the pain that every decent South African must feel everytime you open your mouth.

      whatashame - 2011-05-21 13:26

If Lindiwe is a tea lady, then it just goes to prove that tea ladies are in fact highly intelligent people. I will still rather have this tea lady as my future president than than this racist fool. You go Lindiwe. He didn't only insult Lindiwe because his statement was not meant to be complimentary, he also insulted all tea ladies who do an honest days work - unlike him. They would have proved something to me if they had said Lets celebrate our victory by giving our celebration funds to poor communities for them to build themselves up. Always plenty money for celebrations but no money for service delivery.

      Rustum X - 2011-05-21 13:37

      Rustum X - 2011-05-21 13:44

Firstly, the ANC does not equal Malema. Malema was not an election candidate AFAIK.. well I am often wrong, (thank God, too!) Try acting more clever than anti-ANC (or Anti-anything)... That is always a good place to start about practicing insight skills, although, I am evidently no expert on this.

      Together - 2011-05-23 11:08

Rustum X - he speaks for them, sets policy for them (apparently) and they have never been able to manage him on any level. If they beg (!!) him to apologise, he does it on Tuesday, then doubles the outrage on Wednesday. If the ANC leadership cannot manage a youth league, then it cannot manage a country full of different people. Once again Malema tells us clearly what Mr Mantashe tries to hide: that the new ANC despises women, and all the people who vote for any party but the ANC - even though they are SA citizens. We are grateful that Malema tells the truth about what lies in the new ANC's heart.

      createbus - 2011-05-23 12:39

I find it amazing that the majority is only commenting on Malema's racist attitude but not on his blatantly sexist stance. This is very much an indictment on gender equality. If businesses are seen to have any inequalities then everyone is up in arms, but a key representative of the ruling party blatantly proofs himself a sexist bigot, with no consequences. I am disappointed in the system and the female gender for letting this man get away with this type of behaviour.

In my comment I made no mention of black or white, and yet you switch to the "Race card" again. Go look up MASS HIPNOSIS on Google, the Nazis used it to great effect, beware!! Its not about Race anymore, its about service delivery, and the DA proved it. Lindiwe will be the DA leader one day (hopefully in the same time as Julius will be for the ANC) and as a white male I will support her all the way!!!

      Kev - 2011-05-20 18:17

@mshini wam, you say this now but when SA becomes like Zim you will be the first person on that plane to a 1st world country (were a white is president)

      whatashame - 2011-05-21 13:45

You are right Mshini wam - we are stuck with the ANC for quite a few years yet and I understand your reasoning but also understand that many black people also want to move forward and Mandela and many others (not only ANC)paved the way but now that paving is in ruins. Wish you well following your leader who will keep you in the past. From a new black DA voter. And I am not stupid either - bantu education did me well, just wish they could bring it back rather than the unionised so-called education they are giving our children in townships today)

      koosthedoos - 2011-05-21 14:38

@ mshini wam Again you switch to the race card! You black so you vote ANC... EVEN when they cant deliver. YOU ARE CLEARLY ONE OF THE CHICKENS THAT VOTED KFC!!!

  • Blikskottel - 2011-05-20 16:58

Malema should be forced, haunted, pushed and prodded until he agrees to a debate and so should Zuma.

      gizzy - 2011-05-20 17:34

That would make even Sky News and CNN as the biggest laugh of the century!!!! It could even be turned into the best comedy sitcom!

  • 50something - 2011-05-20 16:58

Lindiwe - Don't feel bad about Malema not wanting to debate. I have watched you on TV today - and my word, SA should watch this space - this Lindiwe girl is going to go places if not to the top. The reason for malema refusing - he is intimidated by you. You are aarticulated and intellegent - Malema is the opposite, he would have looked than an even bigger fool than he is against you. he can debate with the his single digit IQ friends and sounf intellegent, but against you his IQ will drop below zero. ... and I agree - The ANC is a racist party. malema has no respect for anyone, let alalone a woman. Go DA, Go Lindiwe, Helen and Patricia, go, you are on the right path

      steynbeyers - 2011-05-20 17:06

I cannot agree more, we are looking t the future leader of the DA if you ask me!

      daemos1 - 2011-05-20 18:16

And the reason for you calling Lindiwe a 'girl' is that you're a closet bigot like many DA supporters. Julius wouldn't waste his time with this nonsense

      50something - 2011-05-20 21:06

Daemos - Your logo does not tally with your comment - so either you are as stupid as Malema or a fake. I think it is the latter (that means the last statement)

      Rustum X - 2011-05-21 14:00

Adolf Hitler was articulate and charismatic too... Be careful of becoming one of a celebrity fanclub. Try thinking about what government means and be more critical about the people claiming to be qualified for it. If they happen to be articulate and charismatic, start wondering how their use of words and phrasing is making you agree with them. Look for the real things they say. "We'll use the fines recovered to build workshops at traffic depts for out of work mechanics to come apply their trade on a casual basis." has a lot more substance than, "We plan to create jobs and spend RXXX billion rand, doing so."

      tryanything - 2011-05-21 18:01

Our three new Mothers of the nation

      mm - 2011-05-23 10:37

Do deamos1, in your infinite wisdom, "girl" aside, you think that it is nonsense in a democracy to debate issues. just shows how much you and your fat hero knows about politics. He might have "grown up" in politics, but by the looks of it he scored as much for politics as he did for woodwork. This is nothing more than pure and absolute cowardice, and you know it.

  • Tom - 2011-05-20 16:59

Do the words "sexist" and "ignorant fat pig" come to mind anyone? This blob isn't fit to carry Lindiwe's groceries - he knows very well she would have had him for breakfast and that's why he was too afraid to debate her. Poor juju I'm sure he finds intelligent well spoken black women quite threatening in his little world.

  • Margaret2 - 2011-05-20 17:00

Mal-enema and Lindiwe are about the same age......well, biologically. He was born into politics...from 9 years old. She has been in politics for only about 3 or 4 years, yet she is several lifetimes ahead of him politically, and probably in every other way.

  • AH - 2011-05-20 17:00

Mmm as expected, Malema is not only a racist, but a chauvinistic coward!

  • william.botha - 2011-05-20 17:00

    What an insolent little prick.

  • Fred - 2011-05-20 17:01

Julius you spineless fat tick. Sums up the ANC 100%. God this is embarrassing. All the best to Lindiwe, she's a smart one. I wouldn't want to be opposite her in a debate either.

  • Kaapie - 2011-05-20 17:02

He is actually afraid of being embarassed bt the 'tea gal'

  • OuWitBooi - 2011-05-20 17:02

That's why they all run around in yellow T-shirts. Cowardly bullies run for cover when the meet any real opposition. JellyArse is very brave when he has 10,000 of his supporters and his body guards around him, but he becomes a whimpering puppy when he has to face Mazibuko on his own.

  • Dan - 2011-05-20 17:02

Malema is a disgusting piece of shit. Nothing more and nothing less. The ANC voters deserves him.

  • mshini wam - 2011-05-20 17:03

Where are the prophet of doom, who were saying DA will take Tshwane and Johannesburg? It wont happen. Black people are majority at these metros and are not stupid enough to vote for white person after what happened in the past.

      william.botha - 2011-05-20 17:07

Do you also hear voices in your head all the time? Like Malema, it's called schizophrenic paranoia, you need help.

      bradm911 - 2011-05-20 17:15

That's fine dude, you guys can continue to live in squalid conditions, and carry on cr@pping in buckets, that the ANC has not even attempted to fix over their 17 year rule. Ignorance is bliss as they say, yet you all start toitoing and complaining that there is no service delivery blah, blah blah fish paste, and you keep voting for the idiots who you are complaining about... Something doesn't add up here... Why is the Midvall area the most profitable municipality in Gauteng? Why is Cape Town/The Western Cape the safest place to live in, in South Africa? Why does the DA hold the majority of the votes in the Western Cape? You guys need to catch a wake up, because the way you keep thinking will send this country straight into what Zimbabwe has become. The ANC are only interested in lining their own pockets, and the proof is in the luxuary cars they buy, the expensive over sea's holidays they take, the massive houses they live in, the massive parties the have, and this is all done with tax payers money... Dude, you carry on living in ignorance, but people around you will eventually wake up...

      Thad - 2011-05-20 17:17

I believe the DA mayoral candidate for Jo'burg is black. get your facts right.

      OuWitBooi - 2011-05-20 17:17

Typical ANC comment. They know they can't defend the situation so they sprout some irrelevant claptrap. When Lindiwe is your president maybe you will see the light. In the meantime your blinkered racism prevents you understanding anything going on around you.

      steynbeyers - 2011-05-20 17:23

All above, I think mshini wam is under a deep hipnotic state created by the ANC to be racists, please Ignore him, he is totally unaware of his actions, same as the rest of the ANC supporters. Mshini wam, I am going to count to three and then I would like you to WAKE UP!! and realize what the ANC is doing 1, 2, 3.......

      Willem - 2011-05-20 17:23

The Prophets mshini wam....where are the Prophets....remember - plurals - english language grade 1...?

      watercloset - 2011-05-20 17:25

You underestimate black people. They wont vote for a racist like Malema no matter the colour.

      Fred - 2011-05-20 17:26

Actually judging by the party you voted for you are as thick as pigshit

      gizzy - 2011-05-20 17:37

Geez, you're like a stuck record. Stuff off you racist troll!!!!

      Sargon - 2011-05-20 17:41

Lie down. Your condition will pass (With time though). Alternatively watch your little daydream float past on the clouds of whatever crap you are smoking.

      Christelle - 2011-05-20 17:52

What is happening in the present? You can vote - yes that is true. But what exactly are you voting for? Or has it become a matter of "Freedom is another word for nothing left to lose"?

      christiaan.schalkwyk - 2011-05-20 18:25

I Think everey 1 must vote for the ANC so that the Country could be going down sooner so we can then came back and rebuld this country Go DA you all doing a good Job ANC supporters is like goats One have a bell the ret is following him while the one whith the bell eating all the grass and the rest is dying of hunger So stuped

      christiaan.schalkwyk - 2011-05-20 18:53

I Cant believe how stupid the people are who voted for the ANC The Phokwane municipality mayor stole R40M The poor people TOY TOY 3 weaks before election about houses and electricity that have not be in place as promise Most of the people who have TOY TOY are ANC and again they voted for the same ASSS

      Janine - 2011-05-20 18:58

I hate to point this out to you - but a lot of white people won't ever vote for a black person because of what is happening NOW!

      AJ - 2011-05-21 02:54

@mshini wam: All you are claiming most black people really have no concept of how a party works. It's all about the face at the top, the king, the chief!? So childish. All the party members fall into line and do his bidding, whether legal or not for fear of repercussions and loss of priviledge. And the 'supporters' well they are cowed into submission.. That's not democracy, its a tribe-chief scenario, open to abuse and often abused. Let us know when you start catching up, but must warn you the world is not waiting for you... Here's a tip - when teh ANC party workers and cadres stop looking up at their all powerful leader for fear of 'stepping out of line" and start looking the other way at the people they are supposed to serve, perhaps you will then make some progress. No wonder the ANC cannot deliver, they're too busy worring about their jobs to actually do them.

      Winston - 2011-05-21 07:52

@ mshinishwarma. Dont worry about the past... WORRY ABOUT YOU FUTURE YOU DUMB IDIOT!!! Always the past this and the past that. Grow up man! start taking resposibility for you own future!!!

      johan - 2011-05-21 10:06

      Tebogo Mathoko - 2011-05-22 00:31

u rite mshini. we will never vote the DA as much as they will never put a black person to lead them. this lindiwe is black, the same as u and i whom many obviously non-black DA SUPPORTERS alwayz refer to as stupid, waking up, uneducated. she will never be white. when whites refer to us as stupid that also include her as she is also black. lindiwe is only there to be able to still afford the private school fees of her children and she knows it. there is no government/parliament policy that forces people to debate in public. Zille must await her turn one day and then she can write a new policy to force her to debate in public. the ANC is also a political party that must be voted just like the DA. why is it an issue when it gets voted. Anyway the DA didnt do any change. it only retained one part of the cape and was beaten at any other place. dream on. but first lets see them putting a black person as a leader and with such a major racial optimism, maybe we might consider voting otherwise. Till then

      kevinpietersen26 - 2011-05-22 07:28

KDP With people like you?GOD HELP AFRICA!

      rix.wallace - 2011-05-22 11:03

      some dip with your chip??

      Boerseun - 2011-05-23 12:58

Then stay poor untill your children call you idiot in the future.

  • David - 2011-05-20 17:04

How on earth can Malema be scared of the "tea girl" of the DA if he was 'born into politics...from 9-years-old"? Surely Mr. Malema must have learnt something in his 20-odd years of politics? Oh wait a minute, I recall that Mr Malema didn't do very well at school so he must be a slow learner. Ms Mazibuko is a shining example of the A+ student in SA Politics so can you please just go back to being the class clown. No one takes you seriously anyway! Lindiwe would annihilate Julius in a debate, it actually wouldn't even be fair.

      Together - 2011-05-23 13:42

David, if I was born in a garage it wouldn't automatically mean that I was a car, right? :)

  • Rory - 2011-05-20 17:05

That's because Julius couldn't spell debate....can you imagine da di du do....

  • scud - 2011-05-20 17:06

Is young Julius a AH or a DH or both?

      william.botha - 2011-05-20 17:10

Nah, I think it's amphetamine psychosis from sniffing tik off naked chick's backs.

      tryanything - 2011-05-21 18:05

He blew it From now and forever he is the garden BOY. Until the garden boys revolt that is..

  • Warren - 2011-05-20 17:06

Some-one needs to explain to the garden boy that the Madam's party won Cape Town, and increased its overall support by far more his own group of intellectuals. If he can get the tea lady to read the stats to him, he will see that in some areas, the madams party came uncomfortably close to beating his bunch of bum flashers. Next time they might achieve more!

      Perfume - 2011-05-21 11:13

Next time the madam and her ladies ARE GOING TO WIN!!!!

      Tebogo Mathoko - 2011-05-22 00:41

you are a sick fool and clearly dont understand mathematics. there are 9 provinces in RSA. the DA didnt win anything but only retained its only single hold in WCAPE. ECAPE and NCAPE they lost plus other new parties also stole few %s, so its not like DA got all remaining 39% national figure and grew. they only moved from 14% to 25% which is still almost onethird of the ANC. At least one i agree with your dream is "Next time , maybe"

      Digit - 2011-05-23 08:37

so, Tebogo Mathoko .... going by your math .... in 2006 DA only had 14%, now 25 % .... that is nearly doubled in 7 years. ANC had 66 % then and now only 62 %. That is a drop of 4 %. But turn out was the best ever .... last time 47 % turn out compared with nearly 59 % this time ..... The 12 % more who voted then all voted DA ..... The remaining 41 % of non voters are sitting on the fence .... They are waiting to see how policies are effected. If 100 % voted, I really doubt that ANC would even get 50 %, not now, not before Jesus returns, not after either ..... simple Math .....

  • Zennie - 2011-05-20 17:06

Julius why dont you ask for a job as 'garden boy',then you have the whole day to speak to the teagirl.

      gizzy - 2011-05-20 17:43

There'd be no garden left. The twally couldn't tell the difference between grass and stones! He isn't intelligent enough to do garden work! What an insult to gardeners!

this goat-herder is running scared. He knows nothing 'bout politics ///All he knows is insulting old people. Lindiwe is your age,.. you moron !!! ///
