959 Suspects arrested

THE KZN SAPS embarked on a number of operations starting from 30 November and running until 6 December as part of the festive season. These operations included cordon and search, tracing of wanted suspects and high police visibility operations.

A total of 959 suspects were arrested for crimes ranging from murder, attempted murder, rape, business robbery, house robbery, hijacking, theft of motor vehicles, assault, kidnapping, fraud, stock theft, shop lifting, possession of unlicensed firearms, possession of drugs.
During the operations a large quantity of drugs and alcohol were seized.
The arrested suspects have appeared in various courts around the province.

The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni congratulated police for the successes achieved and said that such operations will continue throughout the festive season. The deployment of the members will be maintained in various areas throughout the festive season,” she said.
