Athletes lace up for club champs

2015-09-09 06:00

SUNDAY’S 21km SAPS Heritage Challenge will incorporate Amanzimtoti Athletics Club 21km club champs. The start will be on 13 September at Hoy Park, Sylvester Ntali Road, Durban. Athletes can enter online on www.topevents.co.za until 9 September or at the KZN Runner, 2 Gordon Road, Windermere.

Well done to Raymond Hair for completing the 50km trial run at Mont-Aux-Sources Challenge - his first ultra-distance trail marathon. Bitterly cold conditions with snow and slippery ice for the 50km made ascending and descending the 1,8km tough. “We started in D batch and had to pass some slower runners early on. At the chain ladders. Jess had a flawless race, comfortably running in at nine hours. I managed to get in just under six hours and ended 20th overall, and less than an hour behind the leader. It was an awesome race. We will definitely be back next year, fitter and faster.” The club tent will be at the finish area with a gas braai.
