ON Saturday 19 September, International Coastal Clean-up Day, Amanzimtoti Conservancy will undertake a huge clean-up operation from the beach, through to Illanda Wilds.

“This year we decided to focus our efforts on our two beautiful rivers in Toti - the Amanzimtoti and the Little Amanzimtoti rivers

- and get them cleaned up as best we can.

“With this in mind we invite you to join us and get stuck in and dirty for one morning, a couple of hours or even just an hour,” said Toti Conservancy chairperson, Laura Taylor.

Teams will meet in the Lords and Legends car park at 8am on Saturday. From there teams will be dispatched to various parts of Hutchison Park and Ilanda Wilds to clean up litter.

“Hopefully there will be enough people to send some to tackle the Little Amanzimtoti River as well. “You will be given bags and as long as you can get the full bags to the nearest road they will be collected. “Please wear protective clothing, gum boots if you have, hats, sunscreen, plastic gloves, etc. “If you have waders please bring them so that you can enter the river to clean it,” said Taylor.
