‘Live Inside and Win the Ride’ competition starts

2015-08-12 06:00

FRIDAY was marked D-Day as five excited, but apprehensive finalists in the Galleria and Mark White Nissan’s Live inside andamp; Win the Ride competition took up their positions in the Datsun Go they want to win.

The finalists, Stephan Coetser, Lynn Pillay, Nokwanda Makhaye, Trisha Naidoo and Jacques Kruger are residents coming from Amanzimtoti, Illovo, Oriental Hills and Isipingo.

They now face off in a test of endurance to drive home the prize.

They are expected to spend August living inside the Datsun G with the other contestants.

Contestants receive a 15-minute break every three hours. Meals will be provided.

The last finalist left in the car, wins the ride. The competition is likely to liven up soon, with Naidoo admitting that she is competitive and “does not back down”.

“The idea of the competition seemed exciting to me. I am at home at the moment, as I have been retrenched and I love people.

However, despite this statement, Naidoo was the first to exit the car on Saturday.

Kruger is the guy known to interact with strangers.

“I entered late on Sunday night on my wife’s motivation, I do not enter competitions easily.

“I am often told I am the most patient person and I am hoping this will play a part in my success.

“I am going to go with my brother-in-law’s prediction that we are likely to spend 19 days in the vehicle,” he said.

Coetzer is another entrant that is there on his wife motivation.

“Delene entered and I got to live inside, as she already has a new car. Hopefully I will go all the way,” he said.

Makhaye is an easy-going and laid-back person, but should not be under- estimated as she says she is driving away with the car.

“I entered because I need a car, so I submitted many entries,” she said.

“I simply love the car, I made three entries and I will go as long as I can,” Pillay said in a few words, but according to her entry form, she loves to talk.
