PET Rescue Service, 4 Paws and a Tale are pleased to have a new volunteer assisting it with feeding and taking care of the many abandoned animals.

“After going out on the early morning feeds on my own during the week, I now have the pleasure of Nic Cilliers’s company every morning. He has a passion for animals, like all of us at 4 Paws and a Tale have, and he decided it was time to stand up and be counted and not just hope that someone else will do the job,” Nicky Koekemoer said.

From December 2014, Cilliers has been going out at 5am to feed 110 dogs and 30 cats every day. He is well known in the Scottburgh cycling community having run his own bicycle shop for years.

“It has taken Nic some time to get to know the dogs and cats as there are so many, but he has pushed through and knows them by name. It has been amazing to see the love he showers on them and they have blossomed,” Koekemoer said.

To top this, Cilliers has made a very special friend called Tammy.

“He just adores her and she returns the love tenfold! Nic has to pick her up every morning and she is turning into a large girl, hugs with her paws around his neck and rains kisses all over his face and head.”

“These dogs are so starved for attention that when they get it they lap up every moment. “You will spot Nic in his car sporting the 4 Paws and a Tale logo. We trust that Nic will be able to carry on with his involvement with us for many years,” Koekemoer said
