JOIN Pointsettia Park for its annual fête on Saturday, 4 July. This year’s theme is Christmas in July and offers the ideal opportunity to stock up on decorations, Christmas cards and unique handmade gifts.

“Visitors will be spoilt for choice between the many art and craft and food and preserve stalls and the plant and garden show,” Rina Perrin said.

One can expect all the traditional treats, including pancakes, boerewors rolls and curry and rice and all kinds of cake and tarts at the cake table. A few moments of leisure can be enjoyed in the tea garden while sipping a cup of coffee or tea and snacking on eats.

Ornaments and household goods and sewed and knitted items will be up for sale along with books, music and puzzles. Entertainment includes line dancing and children will enjoy pulling Christmas crackers.

“Residents have been preparing for months, making flower decorations. The fête is one of our biggest fundraisers for the year. Last year we fund-raised R120 000 throughout the year. “The monies are used to improve the living conditions of residents and compensate for rent for people on a state pension,” Perrin said.

In years before, funds were used to upgrade electrical boxes, paving walkways and improving the kitchen. There will also be several raffles on the day. The fête will be held at Pointsettia Park, 619 Kingsway, Amanzimtoti. Gates open at 7am.
