ON Tuesday 23 June a flat-bed truck, the “Truck of Joy”, arrived at the Jabulani Senior Citizens residence in Warner Beach loaded with groceries for distribution to the elderly and disadvantaged communities in Amanzimtoti and surrounds.

The donation was organised by Errol and Sharon-Ann Theron and the Kingsburgh Welfare Organisation for the Aged.

The excitement and smiles on faces were a joy to behold.

However, because of the exceptionally large number of creamed mushroom sauce cans in the delivery, a decision was taken that these, and other items, would be shared with local old-age homes, welfare organisations and charity groups. These charities would in turn distribute the items to communities.

“We are indebted to the companies who came together to make this wonderful donation a huge success, including DA Ward 97 Councillor André Beetge and ARI Tech via DBN South Business Forum who provided a truck with a crane that helped to shorten the pallet off-loading time by an estimated three to four hours,” said a residence spokesperson. - Supplied
