THREE people were seriously injured after an accident along the N2 north near the old airport on Monday 7 September just after midnight. A report from the scene indicate that the initial accident was due to a vehicle veering off the road and colliding with the concrete centre median. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and was found lying prone on the road.

“Netcare 911 paramedics and other services were treating the injured when a vehicle slammed into the accident scene scrapping an ambulance and a police vehicle. A report from a passenger is that the man was taking his wife to a Durban hospital for admission when he collided into the emergency vehicles,” said Chris Botha, Netcare 911 media liaison officer. Botha said paramedics found the man and his wife had both sustained serious injuries. “Fortunately, the paramedics and police heard the screeching brakes and ran to get away from the scene. They jumped onto the concrete barrier and witnessed the vehicle slamming into the ambulance with such force that the side door flew of and the vehicle was flung onto the police van,” he said.
