Boreholes, the answer in time of drought

2015-12-23 06:00

THE current drought devastating many parts of South Africa and the dwindling natural water for drinking and sanitation, are matters of great concern and require immediate steps to be taken to address them.

A unified approach is needed to address South Africa’s current and long-term water supply needs as there is no alternative to natural water - the source of life.

South Africa now has a full-blown water crisis and we all need to take every possible precautionary measure to preserve this precious resource.

It is important that as humans we change our habits in how we use our natural resources and treat the environment in order to save our natural resources.

In this regard, I make a humble appeal to all to dig boreholes in strategic locations and provide free water to all, irrespective of race, language, religious beliefs or creed.

In drilling a borehole, particular care should be taken with regard to municipal by-laws and environmental impact, and the water should be tested chemically for human use by a reputable laboratory.

Digging boreholes in order to provide clean water to communities in South Africa would be an excellent form of corporate social investment.

Water scarcity is among the main difficulties to be faced by people around the globe and requires a multitude of measures to preserve it.
