THE Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) will once again host the annual Comrades Expo at the Durban Exhibition Centre next month. The three day Comrades Expo is the largest running-related exhibition in South Africa and runs from the first until the third of June.

With more than 100 exhibitors, showcasing the latest in running-gear, nutrition, technology and more, the event has become a highlight on the Durban exhibition calendar.

More than 50,000 visitors are expected to attend the 2017 Comrades Expo which caters for the athlete as well as anyone seeking an active lifestyle. So whether you are a novice or veteran runner, the Comrades Expo is not to be missed.

This is the meeting place for athletes from around South Africa and the globe before their big race on Sunday, 4 June 2017. It is a space where stories are shared, advice is swopped and pre-race nerves are quelled.

The Durban leg of the Comrades Athlete Registration process is a major facet of the Expo. Runners who have opted to do their Comrades registration in Durban can collect their race numbers here as well as their goodie bags, New Balance Comrades runner tee, Toyota Comrades headgear and other need-to-know info.

Other facets of the Expo is the sought after History Gallery with a focus on the rich history and traditions of The Ultimate Human Race as well as fantastic activations by the CMA’s major sponsors and partners. The Comrades Memorabilia stand will once again have some amazing Comrades branded merchandise on sale.

A special Novice Area at the Expo is being implemented specifically for first time entrants in this year’s Comrades Marathon. The six official Comrades charities will also feature with sales of special Comrades charity products and keepsakes as part of their fund-raising initiatives.

The introduction of an Old Mutual auditorium at the Expo is in the pipeline where a selection of Comrades guest speakers will address Comrades runners on a range of running topics. Comrades coach Lindsey Parry will also be on hand to offer advice and support at the Old Mutual stand twice a day.

Entrance is free. Be part of the Comrades experience by visiting the Durban Exhibition Centre between June 1 and 3.

· Thursday - 10am to 5pm

· Friday – 9am to 6pm

CMA general manager, Chris Fisher said: “Be sure to get your photo taken on the Comrades Marathon rickshaw which will be parading for photographers at the Expo entrance. A must for international and out-of-town runners.”
