A JOINT operation with the Hawks Counterfeit Team, ORS Durban Harbour Anti-smuggling unit and Border Security Crime Intelligence resulted in the closure of a factory that was manufacturing fake products in Mobeni last week.

The team discovered the factory, which manufactured fake Nike and Guess products.

Members confiscated the counterfeit goods and all manufacturing equipment.

The Nike brand protection manager was at the scene to identify their brand. The value of the seized items is approximately R5 million.

The owner of the company will be summoned to appear in the Durban Specialised commercial Court to face the charges of Contravention of the Counterfeit Goods Act 37 of 1997.
