Inspection of third valuation roll extended

2017-05-17 06:02

GOOD news for property owners, you now have a further extended period to submit an objection to the third Valuation Roll released in February, should you wish to do so.

A report, tabled at the Executive Committee meeting held on April 25, stated that the initial closing date for objections was March 31, 2017.

The period was then extended to May 2, before being extended by another two weeks to ensure ample opportunity for all property owners to submit an objection if necessary.

In terms of the Municipality Property Rates Act, municipalities are required to revalue properties every four years for rating purposes.

eThekwini mayor Zandile Gumede said they have worked hard to ensure the valuations were a fair and transparent process.

She said residents who were unhappy after inspecting the roll have until the May 16, deadline to lodge an objection as well as an appeal.

Property owners wanting to inspect the roll can follow the steps below:

Go to www.durban.gov.za

• Click on Online Tools

• Scroll Down To General Valuation

• Click on General Valuation Roll 2017

• Select Full Title/Sectional Title and Click Go

• Enter Rate Number/Property Description/ Physical Address and Search (Nb: Less is more. You can put a rate number only or property description only. You don’t have to fill in all the fields.)

• Click on Rate Number to Open Property Profile

Customers are advised that staff are situated on the ground floor of the 75 Dr Langalibalele Dube Street building who will accept objection forms and deal with any queries arising from the valuation process.

Objection forms may also be handed in at any of eThekwini Municipality’s Sizakala Centres or can be scanned and emailed to val.roll@durban.gov.za

Valuations may be inspected via the City’s website www.durban.gov.za or directly from http://www.durban.gov.za:89/propertysearch.htm - Supplied.
