Learn how to work in pastels

2016-04-13 06:00

ON Saturday 16 April, the Upper South Coast Art Association’s public meeting will be held at the activities room at Toti Library from 9am to 11.30am.

“Members will be taught how to work in pastels and/or water colour. If anyone is keen on joining us and would like to bring art supplies, the following are needed - a good quality paper and charcoal, some pastels and possibly a small set of water colours, one thick and one thin brush. We will be creating a still life, learning several techniques. Please come and join us,” said chairperson Patricia McCann.

At 2pm to 4pm the association will have a demonstration by Shirley Howells, who has over the past 15 years won awards and exhibits her art in the Cape, Art in the Park, and the Hilton Arts Festival, among many other places.

Howells has also been mentioned in art magazines locally and internationally and will complete an oil painting which embraces her love for the more romantic path of portraits, florals, rustic landscapes and ramshackle buildings, and musicians.

“It is going to be an honour to have her with us.
“The public is welcome to both these activities. A small charge will be levied for the demo,” McCann said. -
