A MAN was found dead on the R603, near Amanzimtoti on Saturday afternoon.

According to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring paramedics were returning to their branch when they were flagged down by local authorities.

“Upon closer inspection, paramedics found the body of a male lying motionless on the back seat of a light motor vehicle.

“Paramedics assessed the patient and found he had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life.

“Unfortunately, the man had already succumbed to his injuries. Nothing more could be done for the man and he was declared dead on the scene,” he said.

According to authorities the man had been beaten by an unknown number of people. A passerby loaded the man into the vehicle and drove towards the local authorities.

Police are investigating.
