MATRICS wrote English paper 2 on Thursday.
“The paper was very fair and was what was expected,” said Mrs Pople, Kingsway High HOD for English.

Kingsway pupil, Jade Roberts agreed: “The paper was not as bad as I expected, but it was not easy either. The standard has definitely increased. Only the poetry was really difficult for me and I did not know enough to write an essay on The Great Gatsby.

“I finished with time to spare, which is odd for me, I expected worse. The poetry was challenging,” said Kimeel Govender.

Imraan Mansoor said: “I did the contextual for The Crucible and was well prepared to answer those type of questions.” “I did not like the poetry, it threw me off, the poems they asked were the ones I was less familiar with. The rest of the paper was nice,” Xoliswa Shangase said.

Sindiswa Mzizi said: “The paper was okay, overall my favourite was The Crucible. Our teacher knew it really well. I did not know enough about The Great Gatsby to write an essay.”

“I enjoyed it and did all right with poetry. The Crucible was enjoyable. I understood all the questions, which is crucial,” said Daniel Fouché.
