THIS weekend, the popular KFC Mini Cricket Festival took place at Hutchison Park. The event was organised by Amanzimtoti Sports Centre and Warner Beach Preparatory with 1 200 children from KZN attending.

The festival is held annually and all schools in the province are invited, keeping the limit to 1 200 children. The idea behind the festival is to get children to play and enjoy cricket. Each team plays two fixtures.

The Sunfoil Dolphins was on hand to give advice, hand out autographs and have photos taken with the children. After the completion of the festival, some of the children met the players from the British Army, Signal Corp. who played in a friendly T20 at the Oval versus Amanzimtoti Cricket Club’s First team.

British Army players are touring Durban and after meeting the children from Ethelbert Children’s Home will play cricket with them today.
