Opportunity Centre grows

2016-03-09 06:00

ONE month since inception and Durban South Opportunity Centre (DSOC) has proved to be a hive of activity.

Two weeks ago a team of six registered at DSOC cut and cleared the overgrown verge along Kingsway in Warner Beach.
More than 30 bags of rubbish were removed and a number of truckloads of rubble and debris were taken to the municipal dump in Doonside. It is hoped that the area will be maintained and turn into a lush lawned area like on the opposite side of the railway track in Ellcock Road.

The project was funded through donations and debit orders by individuals and businesses. To maintain and continue to improve the area as well as create work for job seekers, the centre once again appeals for help from business and the community to give thrust to this initiative by assisting with monthly contributions and/or donations.

We have now registered a sizeable group of willing, strong men and women who are suited to assist with alien invader removal and general cleaning or any other piece, contract or permanent employment. Also on our books are builders, bricklayers, caregivers, domestic helpers, tilers, drivers, forklift operators and security guards.

Contractors are asked to book workers through the centre. It is recommended that this is done the day before, or, alternatively they can go to the centre (opposite the Karridene Protea Hotel on the R102) to pick up day labour.

Several job seekers have already secured contract work and we have received glowing reports from their employers. An added benefit is that these workers have been screened for your peace of mind.

Please contact Lee Lewis at 082 890 4982 or email lee@dsoc.co.za and give our workers a try. - Supplied.
