Pele’s memorabilia goes on auction

2016-05-04 06:00

WORLD soccer icon Pele is putting some 2 000 items up for auction, including his three World Cup gold medals and a one of a kind, a Jules Rimet Trophy, that would fetch up to $1 million.

Pele, the world’s greatest footballer of all time, is offering to the public his career memorabilia at Julien’s Auction in London. Sports collectors and investors will purchase these items and display them in their glass cabinets or keep them in a bank vault and only a select few will be able to view these items.

The Pele memorabilia is part and parcel of Brazilian heritage, history and culture. Brazil must take full ownership, and display Pele’s memorabilia in a museum in Rio de Janeiro, which would stay in Brazil for posterity. All monies generated must go to charities and soccer development. Brazil is hosting the 2016 summer Olympic games in July - what an opportune time to show off to the world, Pele’s soccer collection.
