PUTTING Christianity into action, Athlone Park Methodist Church blessed two of their congregation members with a unique gift last week, when the church choir went to their house to sing for them.

The choir sang five of the hymns that Ted and Rosemary Holden love.
“Due to Rosemary’s illness, we are both housebound and haven’t been able to attend services. It has been such a blessing to share this with our fellow congregants because we can’t attend services as we have done over the past 40 years,” Ted said.

It all started when Ted asked the church to make them a tape to listen to.
“They asked if they could come to the house to sing for us and we were only too happy to oblige. We had to move all the furniture in the lounge to fit them in.”

Ted said they are a very close congregation and have known most of the choir members for a long time, having taught many of their children in Sunday school.
“The occasion was made even more special as the visitors included Ken and Sandra Bentell, who are shortly returning to the United Kingdom,” Ted said.

He thanked the church for their thoughtful gesture, saying it meant the world to them.
