THE 2016 Lifesaving Association of KZN South Hypersure Nipper competition was held at Scottburgh Lifesaving Club on Sunday, 24 January.

A strong side-wash and rough surf didn’t deter the young competitors as they swam and paddled their boards around the markers, some 80 metres offshore, brave and well trained nippers who can enjoy the surf with confidence and skill with a safety rescue squad in the surf with the competitors.

The nippers, between the ages of nine and 14, competed in surf and beach events.

Overall winners were, first Scottburgh, second Winklespruit, third Warnadoone and fourth, Fast Track.

Age group winners who won the Competitor of the Competition titles:

U9 male: Liam Simpkins, Scottburgh

U9 female: Gabriella Tilli, Scottburgh

U10 male: Dylan Barber, Winklespruit

U10 female: Grace Daley, Scottburgh

U11 male: Joshua Harford, Winklespruit

U11 female: Amber Edwards, Scottburgh

U12 male: Caleb Daley, Scottburgh

U12 female: Christina Stanton, Scottburgh

U13 male: Jack Gillham, Scottburgh

U13 female: Alicia Potgieter, Warnadoone

U14 male: Kei Giraudeau, Scottburgh
