Striving towards a fireworks-free town

FIREWORKS Action Campaign Toti (Fact) remind visitors and partygoers once again that fireworks are only permitted for 30 minutes between 11.45pm on 31 December 31 and 12.15am on 1 January. No other times are allowed. It is illegal to detonate fireworks on beaches, public areas and communal properties.

Why not donate your fireworks money to a charity this festive season?

Fact Toti thank Sapphire Coast Tourism and other contributors for sponsoring their flyers this year.

The flyers have the following beach safety guidelines:

• ignore illegal car guards;

• no car washing is permitted on the streets or in parking areas;

• listen to life guards at all times;

• only swim in designated areas between beacons;

• swimming is only permitted between 6am and 6pm;

• no fires are allowed on the beach;

• no alcohol may be consumed on the beach (except at a licensed premises);

• no person may stay, sleep or camp in any part of the beach;

• no person shall use obscene, offensive or foul language;

• or behave in an offensive, improper or disorderly manner;

• no person may enter onto the beach using a motorised vehicle; and

• always be considerate of your neighbours.
