THREE people were seriously injured after a head-on collision on Adams Road in Amanzimtoti on Saturday night.

According to Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha reports from the scene show that the two vehicles collided between the police station and Fynn Road.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and found that three people were seriously injured, one was still trapped in the twisted frame of his car.

While firemen used the jaws of life to free the injured, paramedics worked to stabilise the patients.

The three seriously wounded patients, two men and a female, were transported to hospital.

The accident is being investigated.

Another collision occurred on Monday morning on Adams Road where a driver swerved to avoid a monkey and crashed into another vehicle.

“Reports from one of the drivers indicate he was driving near the Fynn Road intersection when he swerved for a baby monkey, veered into oncoming traffic, and collided head-on with another vehicle,” said Botha.

“Paramedics arrived at the scene and found the roadway obstructed with accident debris and the twisted frames of the vehicles. After the injured were triaged it was found that a child and two adults sustained moderate injuries.

“The injured were treated at the scene before medics transported them to a local hospital.”

In a separate incident in Amanzimtoti a trailer carrying building material overturned on the N2 north opposite the old Amanzimtoti CBD on Thursday.

Botha said that some of the load struck another vehicle in the side causing it to veer off the road and crash into the barriers.

“Paramedics arrived and found the roadway totally obstructed with accident debris and the wreckage of the overturned trailer.

“Two people from the bakkie sustained moderate injuries while the two elderly people from the car escaped uninjured. The injured were treated before they transported them to hospital. - Supplied.
