ON Sunday at 9.15pm Netcare 911 paramedics and the Amanzimtoti fire department responded to a three-vehicle collision on the N2 south opposite Kuswag High.
Reports indicate that a vehicle had broken down at the side of the south-bound lane, another vehicle came hurtling down the highway and rear-ended the stationary car, then slammed into the driver who was standing next to his vehicle.

“It is still unsure how the third vehicle became involved in the collision. Exact detail to the cause of the crash and preceding events will form part of the South African Police investigation,” said Chris Botha, media liaison officer - Netcare 911
“Paramedics from various services found that the vehicle that had rear-ended the stationary car had veered across the centre median, its crumpled remains coming to rest on the north-bound carriageway after plunging down a steep embankment. The driver got out of the vehicle and was found seated near the passenger door,” he said.

After the injured were examined it was discovered that one man had died before their arrival, while four others sustained injuries ranging from serious to minor. Medics treated the injured before taking them to hospital.
