Woman killed in Twini hill accident

2016-03-23 06:00

ON Friday 11 March at 11.13pm Netcare 911 paramedics received a call for a vehicle that overturned on the N2 south near the Umbogintwini off-ramp. Reports from the scene indicate that a bakkie with people on the back veered off the road and overturned. A female on the back of the bakkie was thrown from the vehicle and landed on the north-bound carriageway where she was hit by another vehicle.

“Paramedics found the female trapped under the chassis of the vehicle that hit her. Emergency services worked for more than 30 minutes to extricate her from under the vehicle, but she died at the scene due to extensive injuries.
“Four other people were injured, but were taken to hospital privately before our arrival,” said Chris Botha, media liaison officer - Netcare 911.
The exact detail to the cause of the crash and preceding events will form part of the SAPS investigation. - Supplied.
