Lesbian, Gays, Bisexual and Transgendered Individuals (LGBTI) came from all the kasies gathered in Khayelitsha on Saturday to mark Heritage Day.

Themed is Claiming Back Our Culture and Traditions, they listened to a series of talks. We were joined by grannies and event was embraced by the community members and also a group of elderly women from Nyanga.

The event started with a prayer and followed by a dialogue. The question was what went wrong for parents not embracing their homosexual children.

The other parents confessed that they have seen this as an embarrassment to their homes and families.

They were also ashamed from their neighbours and from the congregation. Today after dealing with issues they have accepted and love their children the way they are. The other issue from Lesbians was the issue of lobola; what do the parents think?

The day ended up with traditional food and song
