Samwu strike sickening

2015-05-07 06:00

I would like to share with readers my recent experience at the clinics.

What an awful experience we’ve had. As you know SAMWU is busy with strikes and protests. No one really knows what they want. If you ask them, you get a bunch of nonsense back. In a country where 25% of the population don’t have jobs, those with jobs think they can make demands. Instead of going on their knees and thanking God for jobs to feed their families. So today they went on a rampage – as fools do. I can’t help but to compare them to fools.

They invaded the clinics in Khayelitsha. Chopped the doors with axes, threw sewage around, intimidated and even injured people.

But the worst of all is the danger they exposed the patients to. Desperately ill patients were taken off oxygen and drips and told to leave the clinics.

I have a lot of understanding for frustrations borne out of things you want and need, but when did you become such a monster that you punish innocent bystanders to try and get what you want?

Is it perhaps the patients that are supposed to pay your salary? Or give you a job? Is it the other nurses, doctors or clerks that must be kind to you at work so you feel coddled and spoilt when you don’t even do that great a job? Why is it that we have to suffer because you are not civilised enough to solve your problems like adults?

I had an extremely sick patient – so I was torn between running out of the clinic and leaving her alone, or facing a mob of hooligans that could kill or injure me at the drop of a hat.

You should have seen how innocent, destitute people were treated by these hooligans. Do they not have elderly mothers or family that need to get their treatment at a clinic?

People who don’t agree with them have no right to express their own views by working or helping.

Only their way is right and everyone else must think the same. Some democracy this is.

That human beings can be so callously cruel and ungrateful.

Maybe good people should also start their own riots. We should chop down their homes.

Throw poo in their houses. Prevent them from getting help when they are desperately ill. Let’s see how they feel about intimidation when they are the victims for a change. Come on people, it’s time to take back your lives and communities and rein in these hooligans. Why do they deserve to live amongst us. Why are they allowed to run amok. Why not leave their jobs if they are unhappy witth their employer
