LETTER: A season of promises, what about delivery

2016-03-10 06:00

It is the season when various political parties will be going around communities, doing street cleaning campaigns, making clothes and food donations. All this will be done in the quest for votes.

They will be going around trying to convince the angry youth of our country to vote for them.

Many promises will be made. There are questions which need to be answered, though. Is our youth motivated enough to listen to what the parties have to say?

Have the parties done enough to earn their vote and confidence of the angry youth?

It’s very heartbreaking to see that the youth don’t care about voting.

They no longer believe that their votes will make a difference when some still don’t have access to proper sanitation or jobs. All they see are parties who are good in making promises but don’t deliver.

It will be interesting to see how the parties are going to convince the youth to vote for them. The IEC has revealed that at least nine million South Africans who are eligible to vote did not register.

To the South African youth, you can’t complain about the lack of service delivery if you don’t vote.

You are powerful and you can shape the direction of the nation.

Go out there and vote for the party you believe in. Our votes will determine what direction we want our country to take.
