LETTER: Chair and his gang misleading

2016-08-11 06:00

We write this letter to express our concern regarding the abuse of power by the leadership of the Ndabeni Communal Property Trust. They assumed office in August 2015, and there has been an outright and open abuse of power by the chairman.

This is a man who opens the meeting with threats that he’s not scared of anyone. There are elderly people as well in the trust. This gets everyone intimidated except the KwaNdabeni Concerned Beneficiaries Forum that continues to argue fearlessly against this violation of the beneficiaries’ rights.

We have witnessed an executive that is made up of outright liars who lack transparency.

Their approach to the affairs of the Trust is to disregard the Trust Deed.

It is sad that since 2001 this claim has been marred by controversy because of these rogue elements who only want to enrich themselves without a mandate.

On May 29, they called the beneficiaries to a special general meeting in the hope of deceiving us to accept a deal they’ve entered into with a developer called Abacus. The other item on the agenda was the verification of the beneficiaries which they claimed to be updated. It became apparent that they had spent the previous day in court defending an interdict.

The chairperson gave us his version of what transpired in court. Fortunately comrade Max Orzinsky from the Rural Development and Land Restitution ministry was present at the meeting and had attended the court proceedings.

He told us all that had transpired during the court proceedings. This obviously reduced the status of the meeting to a general meeting. He also revealed that the judge was concerned about the relationship between the trustees and the developer.

Instead, the chairman wrestled the mic from Orzinsky.

Pandemonium broke out from the floor and control of the meeting was lost. The chairman and his gang walked out of the hall.

Meanwhile, the gang continued to promise people that they’ll receive monies within six weeks.

Now they are calling for an AGM, and expect to be re-elected in their positions.

They are exploiting the plight of the elderly and the unemployed with promises of cash.

We must agree that it is unfair for the enlightened to continue raising the hopes of the beneficiaries.

My heart goes to the elderly and those on the list. We need to fight for the upliftment of our people who have been waiting since 2001 for a happy ending to this claim.
