Cops bring joy to kids at creche

2016-02-25 06:00

It was smiles all around when Mfuleni SAPS visited the Jabulani Daycare Centre carrying goodies last Friday.

Warrant Officer Ndakisa-Sector Manager-discovered the new crèche, which is situated in Bardale Informal Settlement, on a previous visit.

The police handed over some toys, books to read, picture puzzles and blankets. They also raised safety awareness for the children.

The crèche looks after about 44 children ranging from 03 months to 5 years of age.

Creche owner Ntombekhaya Sifuba, said she opened the place after witnessing many unattended children on the streets.

The child missing rate was a also a point of concern to her, which drove her to develop to the idea to use her house and start a crèche.

She said that she studied Early Childhood Development and loved children, so starting a creche was a natural progression.

Sifuba said that she also helped look after children whose mothers ‘had just received a call to go for a job interview’.

Sifuba said the donations could not have come at a better time. “We needed these,” she added. However, she announced that she still needed cots, toddler’s tables and chairs as she cannot afford to buy them.

Police said it was all the wiser to bring children to a creche than with siblings.
