Khayelitsha rapper Deezat is hoping that his latest EP will catapult him into the public arena with his raw beats and to the point lyrics.

Abonga Xatyisiwe released his EP titled Piece of Cake last week ad he is hoping that music lovers will take notice not just heads.

Instead of releasing a 5 track EP as his counterparts would, Deezat has packed his with 16 songs with the hope that his will be a household name soon.

“I started rapping as far back as 2006 and I feel like now is the time that the world caught up with me. In this EP I hope to introduce myself to the masses and hope that I will be received warmly,” said the 27-year-old from Kuyasa.

Deezat said that though his music can be catchy his goal is to address social ills to teach a few.

“I write about my experience about what I see in my neighbourhood and how I feel about things. My thing is, you can either learnt through experiencing something or via the experience of others so I hope people can learn from the things that I talk about,” he said.

In the EP he has featured local artists like Rattex on the song called Buza Kum and also has an international act.

“I also have a song with Nigerian artist Demi V on ‘Jealous’ and I will be introducing these new songs.

I do however, have my old classics such as ‘Waya Waya’ and ‘Haisho’. I hope I wil attract a new following with this release,” he said.

He currently works in the film industry and is hoping to make an impact with his music. The EP is available from him for R70.
