LETTER: Generations has lost the plot; we are a nation without legacy

2016-03-10 06:00

I stopped watching Generations when the old cast was fired. When the inspirational character of a hustler “Choppa” no longer existed. Generations feeds our already socially challenged society a lot of junk.

The lack of inspirational characters is a reflection of our society’s evil deeds, greed and gangster tendencies. Lack of long term relationships is also lacking in the soapie.

To Mfundi Vundla: I understand that TV is used to educate and influence the nation, the young to be specific.

But how is Generations educating the nation if Tshidi and Kumkani steal a child and then use witchcraft to escape punishment from the ancestors. They even acquired a snake to protect them; Haibo!. How are the young being taught to be faithful and humble to their partners if Karabo cheats on her husband and then marries her boyfriend.

How are girls being encouraged to work hard if Mary eloped with a sugar daddy. What are young people learning from this show, because the daily menu has become gangsterism, fornication and witchcraft.

Or is that what you want to inculcate on the minds of the young Generations.

Please use the show to build a better Generation. Because TV is very influential. Thank you.
