Mike Perry, an old time collaborator with the late great saxophonist, Mankunku Ngozi and Spencer Mbadu, will team up with present day South African contemporary jazz trumpeter Feya Faku and bass player Herbie Tsoaeli.

Mike Perry (piano) and Spencer Mbadu (bass) will be joined by Richard Pickett on drums for the first part of what promises not to be a battle but a complimentary of South Africa jazz greats. Mike Perry was one of a handful of white jazz players who, back in the day crossed the tracks to play jazz with their black counterparts in the townships…

Perry was following in the footsteps of Chris McGregor and others who went before them. Herbie Tsoaeli and Feya Faku will render an extension of the Dumile Feni Sound Letters from Momo Gallery to Gugulethu at KwaSec NY 138 No.52.

On Friday 27 November Feya Faku and Herbie Tsoaeli at 7pm, entrance R60 and Sunday the 29 November at 2 pm where they will be joined by Mike Perry, Spencer Mbadu and Richard Pickett Trio. Entrance R100. For more call Luvuyo Kakaza: 0609608935

How much food do you need to concentrate?

We have been taught that we need three meals a day in order to make it through the day and while most of us indulge in more than our fair share there is a large portion of South Africans who are living off barely enough to sustain them.
