Lulwazi empowers locals in finance fitness

2016-08-04 06:00

Lulwazi Lwethu does it again! The past Sunday saw smiles and happy hearts in Gugulethu when the organization, in conjunction with Tzu Chi Foundation gave food parcels to the needy.

The event took place at the Gugulethu Sports Complex.

The Tzu Chi Foundation was founded in 1966 by a 30 year-old female monk called Dharma Master Cheng Yen. It runs international emergency relief operations, long-term aid programs, as well as recycling centres in Taiwan.

Tzu Chi has thousands of volunteers who give some, or all, of their time each week.

When Lulu Nongogo, founder of Lulwazi Lwethu, a non-profit organization partnered with the organization, her main focus was not only to feed the hungry but also the liberation of their minds as well, so they are not reliable on hand-outs but are able to go out there and fish for themselves.

A national bank also joined in to talk to the elderly about “Financial fitness” and “Consumer Credit risks”.

It was an event to remember for all those who attended.
