A Nyanga has been arrested for killing his brother after they fought about the deceased disability grant.

According to police the 41 year old man allegedly fatally wounded his brother after they had a quarrel in May. The man was arrested on Monday after a witness came to the fore.

“According to a witness the suspect allegedly assaulted, stabbed and suffocated his brother at their home in May 2016 in Emms Drive, Mau-Mau, Nyanga.

The witness was awoken by screams and when she went to check she found the suspect on top of the victim suffocating him with a refuse bag and when she further checked the victim had already died,” said Captain Ntomboxolo Sitshitshi.

She said that the suspect then put the deceased body inside a refuse bin, instructed and threatened the witness to go with and dumped the body in Browns Farm.

“On the following day, 10 May, police were informed of the body of an unknown man which was found dumped on an open field opposite One-Up Supermarket in Mau-Mau in Monwood Drive in Browns Farm.

He was covered with boxes and bricks on his head and face. His ankles and wrists were tied with a rope,” said Sitshitshi. She said that they suspected that the motive for the killing was the deceased was receiving grant for his disability.

“The victim always argued with the suspect because he used to take his money and use it for his benefit,” she said.
