I am astounded. I am surprised. I am worried. Not that I can’t function because of that. I can. And I am. Just that I’m flabbergasted. Why? Because of what is happening in the country.

There is never a dull moment. But there is a trend. Always that trend; is there. But we shall not talk about it. Read between the lines. And you will see the trend. It is behind the scene.

Lurking in the shadows. It can’t come out. I wish it could. Maybe one day it will. And we shall all see it. But what I can say it this, if you are associated with it, you can do as you like.

You can defy anyone, be it law and order. No one can touch you. You are above the law. Why is that? I don’t know. But some people are doing that. And you wonder, do they mean it?

Well, it seems they do. Tell me, what is wrong with showing anger?

People are angry. They want service delivery. They don’t get it. They burn buildings. What is wrong with showing that?

Well, maybe because I’m a scribe. I love writing. I wish I could write, as I like. And I try to write, as I like. Steve Biko wrote, as he liked. And apartheid did not like it. And they killed him.

They killed him for wanting to be himself. They killed him for fighting for his black sisters. Media played a big part in the struggle. It exposed apartheid. What do you associate June 16 with?

With that photo of Hector Petersen! And who exposed it? The media. The media is the mirror of the nation. It shows what is going on in the country. Many countries don’t like the media.

I know why. And I am sure you do too. But may lack the words to express it. Tell me, if the media were not there, would we have known about Marikana? If it were not there, would we have known about SABC?

The trouble is that we want it to expose colonialism, but not freedom.

Under freedom everyone is happy. There is no corruption. Children of politicians don’t get the best deals in the country.

Well they do. And thanks to whom? The media. And it has the right to do that. It is called free media. And this is just a tip of an iceberg. There is more to it than it meets an eye. It needs to dig deep.

And for it to do that, it needs you. You need to know why it is there.

It provides information. But it exposes corruption. And to curb it, is to stop it from doing its job. Do you think it should? Stay positive.

How much food do you need to concentrate?

We have been taught that we need three meals a day in order to make it through the day and while most of us indulge in more than our fair share there is a large portion of South Africans who are living off barely enough to sustain them.
