The communities of Mfuleni and Kuyasa are still reeling with shock after murders of two respected men in their areas.

On Sunday some bewildered residents in Mfuleni watched in horror as Mthuthuzeli Mbala was rammed to death by another motorist in what appeared to be a case of road rage.

“Mthuthuzeli was driving with his wife and they had just stopped near the police station when another car bumped into his. He stepped out to speak to the driver. As he started writing down the car registration , that man drove straight into him and dragged for 30 metres , breaking his legs and left him bleeding to die,” said family relative Mhonko Godze.

She said the man who was using a company vehicle drove away immediately but histhe car was found abandoned on the N2.

Well-lovedGodze said Mbala was a well-loved community member.

“We will have a memorial service next Wednesday at the Uniting Reformed Church at 1pm and he will be buried next weekend,” she said.

The police are investigating a case of murder.

“A case of culpable homicide is being investigated of accident that occurred on Sunday in Mfuleni and there is no one arrested,” said Captain Nomathemba Muavha.

The second incident occured on Thursday when three gunmen entered Pasika Kwaza’s home in Kuyasa and fatally shot him in front of his horrified family.

Mandla Mlambo another family relative said they are still traumatised by what happened.

“The wife and children saw it with their eyes and it’s a sad memory for all of us,” he said.

He described Pasika “as a humble individual, responsible and very much respectful and loving father.”

“We have lost someone who meant a lot to the community,” said Mlambo.

According to his younger brother, Themba, Pasika had just resigned from work on the day of his death and was planning to relocate to Durban and invest in a business with his sister.

Pasikas elder sister, Prim says that the family is still befuddled by Pasika’s death as he was such an inspirational man that loved his family whole heartedly.

Pasika’s funeral will be held at Kuyasa Primary School hall.
