If there would be an award for the boxer with a mixed bag of luck in South Africa surely Magwaca would be one of the contenders.

After being stripped of his World Boxing Association international title belt last month because of lack of fights, Magwaca will contest for the WBF title.

With 20 fights and 17 wins, 3 draws and no loss, Magwaca is one of the most underrated fighters in South Africa who is often overlooked by promoters.

On the 31st of March “Old Bones” as he is affectionately called, will be fighting for the first time since his last win in November 2015.

He now faces Jason Canoy (26 – 6 – 2) of the Philippines over 12 rounds.

There will be many differences in this particular fight as he will be fighting under Amandla Boxing Promotions.

He will not be fighting under the embattled Sijuta promotions as that stable has opened the doors for him to be signed under the flag of Greg Cohen.

Cohen, in turn, never delivered a single fight for Magwaca, which situation that left him in Limbo for a year.

Magwaca last fought in Cape Town on the day he had won the Flyweight’s WBF international belt.

He then campaigned in his home town of East London and was the crowd favourite amongst the locals, including at the Orient Theatre.

He has since destroyed Lwandile Sityatha, Mfundo Gwayana, drew with Makazole Tete and demolished three international opponents.

Some of the bouts on the day will be Bukiwe Nonina fighting Alesia Graf of Germany for a female WBF Bantamweight title. Gideon Buthelezi will defend his IBO Super flyweight title against Angel Aviles of Mexico.

Meanwhile, Francois Botha will be returning for the second time in the ring for an exhibition fight after his retirement. TheWhite Buffalo is finding it difficult to stay outside the ring and is now an ambassador for the WBF.

Other local bouts on the night will be Aphiwe Myoyo, fighting Vusumzi Tyatyeka, Mnikelo Ndema versus Mbulelo Dyani will be stepping into the ring a month after he destroyed Simo Mbande in three rounds. There will be four other bouts.
