About 120 Small Enterprise Development Agency clients participated in an intense two-day emerging business support programme which was offered by a leading bank and the Department of Economic Development and Tourism.

The programme is centred around providing business owners with core business knowledge and skills which form the basis of a successful business.

The information and skills set provided to Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) through this intervention contributes to building the growth, viability and sustainability of the business.

The sessions were held in Bellville and Stellenbosch.

Talking about the importance of this programme, Alex Qunta, Seda Western Cape Provincial Manager said: “In this province, our number one goal is the creation of opportunities for economic growth and jobs. We know that small businesses are important players in job creation, and as Seda we want to create a conducive environment for small businesses to flourish.”

A delighted Nogolide Feni, the owner of Feni Onela General Trading in Philippi, and who attended one of the sessions in Bellville said: “We experience a high failure rate mainly due to lack of business and financial management skills and often struggle to penetrate existing markets or creating new ones, especially when competing against established businesses. This training will go all the way to address this challenge.”
