Don’t blame me. Blame others. Are you familiar with that? I don’t know what to call it. It is not a quote. It is what we usually say when we don’t make it. We blame others. We blame somebody else.

And if we make it… we are lucky. What charms are you using? Or, we get envied. We get hated. We are called names. So that you have to tone done whatever you are good at. And wait for others.

Don’t leave them behind. Don’t go alone. Be afraid to be better. I don’t know whether you get my drift. I’m trying to say something.

Something that is adrift, something that usually happens.

And we know about it. But do not say anything about it, for we can’t.

Can we? No, we can’t. I’ll get to that. First of all, let me tell you what I’m talking about. I am talking about what has been talked about.

Steve Biko talked about it. Most of you were not born then. He asked; why do we behave like defeated people? Black people think, act, and behave like defeated people. Even when we are independent!

Which is surprising. For this is the time to be free. It is the time to act. And be unhindered. But we are. We hinder ourselves. We tell ourselves not to be fresh. What will people say?

We tell ourselves not to get ahead. Wait for others. Can you imagine when you think for yourself what others say? No, someone must be behind you. Someone must be telling you to think like that.

You can’t think like that, because you are black. In others words, black people do not know how to think like that. Only white monopoly capital does. He tells you to. Oh, this fear we impose on ourselves.

It paralyses.

That is why we are standing still.

WWe do not have to stand still. Or, to look at our backs to see whether we are being watched. What are they saying? Are they saying something wrong?

And if they do, they should recant. We should not allow them to think for themselves, comrade. We should bring them to order. This is what I see happening. Someone wants to think for us. He wants to steal our mind.

Back to Steve, Steve had no time for such garbage. He loved black people. He wanted them to think for themselves. How do I know that? Well, I’m reading a book by him. Dr. Xolela Mangcu wrote it. And is entitled: ‘Biko.’ If he were around, I don’t think he would have allowed it. He would have talked out it. He would have said, “Let my people go.” For people know how to think for themselves. They know when things are not right. And should they keep quiet? I don’t think so. Stay positive.
