Washington Street sessions all the rage today

The last session of the 2016 Infecting the City Sessions will take place in Langa’s Washington Street between Mendi Avenue and Jungle Walk today (Thursday) from 12:00 to 16:00.

Curated by Khanyisile Mbongwa, this Session will explore the theme: “What Will We Tell Freedom?” The afternoon will feature both silencing installations and exuberant performances, featuring work by Themba Mbuli, who brings Owen Manamela-Mogane’s works to life in a daring performance piece interrogating masculinity; the Langa based African Dance Theatre, who will enthral with their dance performance Pantsula San’; The Portrait, by the collective iQhiya explores the roles of gender and tradition within contemporary South Africa.
