As this is the last edition for this year, I am somehow caught between a wrap up of events or an opinion.

So much has transpired in the course of the year, and to be required to put that in a column seems unfair.

But I hasten to recall and remind of some of the highlights that impacted on our lives in the course of the year.

Some are good, bad and awry. If by any chance they bring misery and heartache, please try and make peace and move on.

If they brought happiness, cherish them forever. If no mishap befell you, then count yourself lucky.

As we say goodbye to the year that was, we need to try and be positive about the one ahead.

If you carry them over to the next year, you already possess bad prospects.

One lesson or “padkos” I want to share with you is to stay positive. Padkos is something I like people to ponder or chew upon, so that when they enjoy their festive break, they know they have a task at hand.

I will not go into the details about the events of this year.

You are your own master when it comes to the pain and suffering or joy and happiness of the year.

I have my own painful memories; Like when Orlando Pirates were thrashed 6-1 by Supersport. Or Kaizer Chips performing below par and Sundums achieving something of a near miracle.

Then there is Hlaudi and his shenanigans at SABC, the Prez, JZ not disappointing usual and Julius losing weight.

The EC and some parts of Gauteng decided that they also want to be under GodZille’s rule.

I said to myself this has all to do with democracy, though. But I have this lingering question in my mind: “Do you think that our new found democracy has helped to bring about the best in you”?

Has it fulfilled all of the expectations you dreamt off.

Are you benefiting from it or are you on the sidelines and watching others reap the rewards.
These and many more questions I would like you to think about while you enjoy the beach and that cold one as something is ain’t right or maybe I am just day dreaming like I always do.
