An online salon advertising website is gaining momentum in the townships and operators are none the happier.

“It will a vehicle that works as a boost for our client relationships,” says Hlengiwe Ntombela of Maroza Beauty Salon in Mowbray.

Shawn Tebo,31, the founder of Shawn Designs Solutions, came up with the idea of the website after he noticed that salon owners were lacking the online presence to advertise their businesses.

He works from the Philippi Village Business Hub.

Called Beauty Creations, the website, which will be launched on August 18, aims to list all the salons various areas of the Cape.

Tebo, from Mau-Mau in Nyanga East, has approached a number of salon owners to sell his idea and was given the thumbs-up by potential advertisers.

“I went to door to door selling the concept by word of mouth. I was encouraged to design it after they(salon owners said they) liked the idea.

They told me that (was what) they needed, but they could not afford to make one for themselves. My main focus is going to be salons across the city.

Online presence for a businesses is very important. It also gives customers the trust that this is a legitimate and professional business.

It will give them more exposure and will surely will boost advertising. They will be able to place advertisements for their salons anytime. It is going to be user friendly,” Tebo said.

The salons will pay R80 per month to keep the website up and running.

He invited all salon and beauty service providers to come to the launch and get more information about the website.

Hlengiwe Ntombela, owner of Maroza Beauty Salon based in Mowbray, said the idea of the website is what they need.

“I have a feeling that he website is going to come in handy for us. It is something that we really need as businesses. It is really good,” Ntombela said.

Fundiswa Ncedani, of Fundi’s Nail Bar in Nyanga East, also hailed the idea of the website.

Tebo, is a self-taught technology specialist who started his company in 2012.
