TO mark World Teachers Day, Fairbreeze Secondary School held a mini conference at their school recently.

Dr Devan Singh, a departmental official from the Ilembe District, addressed the academic staff about the important role they play in impacting the pupils with knowledge, skills and values.

Singh also emphasised the vital task that teachers have in building the character of pupils and that a teacher’s influence extends beyond the classroom and the school.

He quoted Gandhi: “The best way to find yourself, is to lose yourself in the service of others”.

He acknowledged the sterling work done at Fairbreeze Secondary and thanked the principal and staff for the outstanding matric results over many years.

The principal, Mr A Maharaj, thanked staff for their dedication and commitment.

Maharaj said the words of Nelson Mandela must resonate with all teachers.

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,” quoted Maharaj.
