Some of the organisations that supported the campaign include Tongaat SAPS, Haven of Rest, Tongaat Civic Association, Keep Tongaat Beautiful, Retired Teachers Association and the Tongaat Central Women’s Association.

The guest speaker at the launch was Tongaat businesswoman, Devi Naidoo who shared her story and her experiences as a person who was in an abusive relationship.

“She motivated everyone to rise up against abuse and get help. It’s only through taking a stand against abuse that abuse can stop and we have several stakeholders in the community who are available to help anyone who needs help fighting abuse,” said Padayachee.

The 365 days campaign will see educational programmes, talks, pamphlet distributions and discussions aimed at promoting an abuse and violence-free society.

“This is a concept that we can achieve if we all stand together and every day say no to abuse and violence on women, children and men,” said Padayachee.

Padayachee thanked all stakeholders, Abraham and the SAPS for their support in launching the campaign.
