THE Association of Senior Citizens of Tongaat (Ascot) is inviting the community to attend their Heritage Day celebration to be held at the Tongaat town hall on 21 September.

The club’s vice chairperson Subramoney Munsamy said: “All clubs will display their club banners and items reflecting their culture and heritage. They will also wear their respective traditional attire.

“Regular workshops and talks will be presented by professionals to educate the senior citizens in respect of abuse, drug abuse and healthy living.”

The club also recently participated in the provincial games held in Durban.

“Our provincial games were held at Kings Park stadium in Durban on 6 and 8 September. We are grateful to have a membership of almost 850 members and we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary next year,” he said.

Thirteen clubs under the leadership of Ascot are also expected to take part in the Heritage Day games.
